Patch and Quick Layer Cycling Walkthrough


Performed a quick patch before heading out fixing the character layering system.  You can now create layered characters from a custom screen (such as a character creation screen)

Create the character, create the layers you want (skin, hair, clothes, ect) and upload assets to that layer to cycle through. 

Then, create number variables corresponding to those layers (skinIndex, hairIndex, ect).

Then, from your custom screen, add a character element, select your character, the default expression, then make your variables to the layers in the drop down below (skin to skinIndex, hair to hairIndex)

Next, create a one or two buttons (one for forward and one for backwards) and select the Cycle Layer Assets action.

Now, select the character, the layer this will cycle through, the variable it will index through, and the direction.

Now, in a scene, you can show a screen or use a button to go to a screen (or just go straight there from new game on the title menu) and go to your custom character screen and cycle through layers to create a character. Make sure you add a button to either go to the previous screen or start a new game and when you show a character, their look will reflect the layers chosen!
